Profitization of Coffee

Food and drink chains such as Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are profiting off of the selling of drinks, especially coffee. Some may say what is the issue with that? I say the issue becomes prevalent when we have millions of Americans becoming addicted to these sugary and aesthetically appealing drinks. Although coffee is beneficial in small doses, the large and extra large cups full of creamer, caramel and whipped cream present potential health risk. There are too many Americans walking around overweight or with diseases such as diabetes. And,  stores like these ones add to the nationwide problem. I do not know how many times I heard someone say "I cant live without my morning coffee" or "I think I am addicted to Starbucks." Coffee is a drug that people are becoming addicted too and the health risk are not being advertised. The only thing I see on television is further advertising on the coffee trend from more and more food chains.

  1. Hi Christihonor, I actually find it funny that you say this because I was never a coffee type of person. I have tried it so many different ways and couldn't get myself to enjoy it, up until Starbucks started using their nitro lids. For some weird reason drinking coffee out of those lids was so aesthetically pleasing too me, and even though I cant stand the taste of coffee I would still buy it. I have to agree, they definitely profit off of aesthetic drinks.

  2. This is so interesting to me because coffee is such a staple in many people's everyday lives that not many people think of it as a drug, yet so many people can become addicted to it.
