Procrastination

Procrastination is one of the biggest things that I have struggled with when going to school. Procrastination is such a bad thing that I've gotten to do from going to school because I've become lazy and always tell myself I'll do it later or I have time. When it comes to a point that I leave things until last minute and wonder why I'm stressed. Procrastination is such a bad habit to get out of. It has affected my life negatively when it comes to schoolwork. Over time, I have realized that I shouldn't be doing this to myself because in the end the only person I'm hurting is myself. I've learned to organize my schoolwork better and use my notes to plan out the days I'm going to do homework and it has helped a lot. I want to be able to learn more things on how to help myself, so I don't keep struggling with doing a lot of work last minute.

  1. I have also fell victim to procrastination, a few times. One suggestion that I believe have helped me stay on top of my assignments would be to do them as soon as you get them. This way there is no room to push it back because it will already be done.

  2. I hear you on this Angela, and do not feel alone with dealing with procrastination as it is a big culprit that haunts many of us. I always get lazy and put things off to a later time, and then the last minute is here! Our class in motivation gives us many of examples that help with this and If you have ever taken The Psychology Of Learning that class has also given us many of techniques to understand and perhaps help in addressing us to be more proactive with this issue. We all hurt ourselves with the practice of procrastination, but this is a very common practice for many of us. What I have tried to change is the same as you are addressing, maybe being more organized and aware of a more stress-free outcome can help. A practice with me in doing this is that when I finish assignments a bit earlier, I have less stress and feel more accomplishment in the long run. Little steps but it does make a big difference in the long run!
