I remember when I first learned about Maslow and his theory of needs. From that moment I have tried to follow his theory and I can honestly say I am a happier person because of this. Reaching self-actualization is probably something some unfortunate people never reach. I did not want to be like them so I tried to learn as much as possible about the hierarchy of needs. Although this is my opinion I agree with Maslow and feel that if these needs are met then people can be satisfied. When the needs are not being met then people experience being less satisfied. Self- Actualization is the most elusive of all the needs but is the one people spend the least time on. To reach self-actualization, one must feel the need to accomplish and use your talents and abilities to the fullest in no matter what area a person uses. Being in college I doubt most of us will reach self-actualization but you can always try to work on it one day at time.
