Endurance Post #4

As I read further, the more unbelievable it is that these events actually happened due to the extremeness of it all. I have these beliefs because if I were in their shoes, I would not have the courage or motivation to continue on. Their motivation is almost unquestionable, especially in this section. Furthermore, the men’s survival skills were tested severely in this section. Even with their circumstances, the men were happy. They were starving, sick and tired, but they were happy. That kind of attitude helps motivate me in my own life. Sometime in life an opportunity or task may seem impossible, but if you put your mind to it and have the absolutely high motivation, anything is possible. I am happy to be reading their journey and expedition and I look up to them as examples on how to lead my own life.

  1. I agree with you. This section was truly nerve-wrecking and heartbreaking. I thought about how I would have a breakdown if I had to endure so much. But these men clearly have a lot of motivation and because of their determination, they are overcoming every obstacle thrown their way. It was highly motivational and they did make the impossible possible.

  2. I absolutely agree with your post. This section was the most anxiety provoking in this novel so far. There level of determination is extraordinary and I hope the men don’t give up. Towards the end of the section their hope is slowly going away, but they are still fighting to stay alive. I will definitely use this section as a lesson learned and try to incorporate their will power they have into my own life. I am going to try to have a more positive outlook on life because if they can survive this journey for this long I can conquer by obstacles.

  3. I can't imagine how these men survived this whole journey! I would not..could not even imagine doing half the things they did. I can't believe the men even had courage to go out on the sea for this journey! They were crazy, but at least they survived.

    1. I agree with you I personally don't get out of my house if i don't have to in the winter time, I think it has to be a miracle to survive in that situation each time, and being that motivated its amazing, I sometimes close my eyes and think about it, just to see how would they have felt, starving in cold and being sick, for me its impossible to even think about it.

  4. I agree as well concerning your statement on how you see this motivating your own life! While reading through this novel, I am so shocked by what the men have to go through and the courage and drive they continue to have, even in the hard times, where most people would give up! Many people complain about daily struggles (too much hw, a common cold, having not enough of something, etc.), but when looking at this crew's journey, it is plain to see that we could all be going through so much worse and even fighting for our own survival! I definatly have to be thankful for a bed, heater, accessible food whenever I want, etc. Their journey helps us realize how much we really do take for granted.
