After reading part one in Endurance I started thinking about my life as a whole. People take waking up in a warm comfy home for grated today and I myself am guilty of this. We have food to eat when we please, water to drink and shelter from harsh conditions. These men have endured the impossible and we complain if the air condition is to low or too high. They have volunteered for something that is unknown and impossible to accomplish. What really impresses me so far is how motivated and determined they are to accomplish this. I know for sure if I was part of that crew, I would not have made it as far as they are getting. Most people today would not dare to take on a mission as harsh and life threatening as these men had. I still can't even begin to image how hard it was to be out there not knowing if you were going to live or die. I can't wait to read more and learn what other obstacles they had encountered.

  1. Hi Rosalia,

I agree with everything you stated in your post one-hundred percent. There are so many people out there who take their lives for granted. In our lives today, we get so upset over the most stupid things such as what you stated: the air conditioning being too low or high. I have to admit that I am also guilty of complaining about this and I am not too proud of it. People should be happy they at least have shelter and a bed to sleep in. Life is too short to not realize what you have. It is important to make the best of everything. I really enjoyed your post!

  2. I completely agree with you Rosalia,

The more that we have as a society, the less we appreciate. Sometimes the best things are the simplest things that we look past because as humans we are always evolving and trying to find something better. I think that you broadcasted that extremely well and show your appreciation after just reading a small part of a book.

    Have a wonderful day

  3. Rosalia,
I totally agree! I myself as well am guilty of this and it really opens your eyes. I only read the first part of the book so far and they have been through numerous attacks already! They are brave people who truly are motivated to finish what they started. They have food that they have to store and save for god knows how long and here we are, being able to get food whenever we desire. Also the sleeping situation; sleeping in a ship that has as many problems as it does with floe, isn’t the most comfortable sleep you’re going to get. And to think about how long they have to deal with these conditions is mind blowing. Not knowing if you are going to live or die is a scary thought, but so far with these men, their motivation is helping them get passed it.
