Motivation and Emotion

The link between emotion and motivation was talked about in chapter two. Descartes found that “emotions are an internal source of motivation that push humans into action toward a specific aim.” This video, I feel, portrays some of what was talked about very well. We were given a number of examples of how some of the most famous icons throughout history were put down and told that they were not good enough. I’m sure the emotions that were felt were anger, sadness, the feeling of inferiority, and maybe even hate. Through these emotions, they were driven to prove to themselves and the ones who did not believe in them that they were good enough, and would be considered by some, the best. The negative words of those who were supposed to encourage motivated them to do the unexpected.

  1. This is awesome! It lifted MY spirits! Its true that one can choose to take the negative external pull & turn it into internal push. Its true that so many significant people in the history of the human race were put down, discouraged, dsirespected, trivialized & abused by others. My personal belief is that the people who are treated this way by others are because others are jealous of their strength & beauty.

  2. I really like this post, and it is very true. Many people who are doubted and put down are usually the ones who are influeced to have more of a drive to complete something or come on top.

  4. Whooa this video is really good. When someone looks at their struggles and failures many feel that they will stay in that rut or nothing will get better...many have to realize that TRYING is the key to success, it might not get you to become "the winner" or the "the best" but it lets one know their limits...it provides someone the opportunity to see beyond and go farther...sky's the limit right? well TRY and see how far in the sky you can end up...can end up being the next MJ or Walt
