Caffeine

In the notes caffeine is noted as the most used psycho active stimulant in the world. In most instances a person can feel alert, energetic, alive, and clear-headed with the consumption of this drug. The MAD TV skit video shows a different story. The man drank a lot of coffee and was feeling manic, jittery, and anxious. This skit made me laugh, because I have a similar reaction to caffeine. It is difficult for me to concentrate, stop talking, moving, or sleep. The first time I drank caffeine it was easily understood why it is a drug. It really depends on a person's tolerance and I happen to have a low tolerance which makes me caffeine sensitive. There are many people that will say they can not survive a day without caffeine. How does your body react to caffeine?

  1. Hey Christina, I totally had to respond to this post becasue I'm an avid coffee drinker. I drink at least 1 cup per day in the morning. I completely agree with the sensitivity levels and how everyone responds differently to the drug. I can get grumpy if I happen to not have a cup but eventually get over it. A really cool post though !

  2. I too am an avid coffee drinker, or at least was, before I was diagnosed with kidney stones and realized the only thing i was drinking was coffee on a daily basis, for the most part at least. Caffeine now has little affect on me, or at least from what I can tell. While reading the book I've been pondering how these men can survive on an ounce of water, or tea, or powdered milk a day. They have literally no energy in them, the absolutely bare minimum at least. I just don't know how they did it.

  3. I am truly a slave to caffeine. I work 12 hour shifts and depend on two cups of coffee to get through a work day. It's unfortunate but everyone has their needs!

  4. Great post! I am an avid coffee drinker as well (though, i wish i wasn't). I usually have three or so coffees just to be able to function throughout my long and busy work/school days.
