self control

One thing that I find interesting when it comes to self-control is how people struggle with it so differently. Self-control plays a crucial role in all areas of life, including personal relationships, academic success, and career growth. People who have strong self-control tend to make better choices and resist distractions, which will lead to greater success. Lack of self-control can result in procrastination, unhealthy habits, and even strain relationships, which can prevent people from reaching their full potential.

Personally, I lack self-control when it comes to time management. I find it really easy for myself to push off important tasks and cram them all in at the last minute opposed to giving myself plenty of time to complete a task. I think I do this because I work a lot and when I am not working I would rather go do something fun instead of something that I may find fun but is required to do. Recognizing this makes me want to develop better time management skills to help set myself up for success.

  1. Hi Kira, I really relate to what you said about struggling with self-control in terms of time management. I think a lot of us can relate to wanting to relax or have fun during our free time, especially when we work a lot or have a packed schedule. It’s hard to prioritize tasks that feel more like obligations, even if we know they’re important. I admire your self-awareness in recognizing the pattern and wanting to improve. For me, I’ve found that breaking tasks into smaller steps and setting short, timed goals helps me stay focused without feeling overwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, I am a learning 23 year old who still needs more practice on self-control. My time management is horrible, I am always late or a bit behind but we are learning and we will figure it out. Hopefully, we can both continue working on building stronger self-control habits that set us up for long-term success!

  2. Hi Kira, I think it's very relatable and genuine to talk about time management struggles. Sometimes the realization only hits later that you might be a little burnt out or procrastinating too much, but half the battle is also acknowledging you have a problem and you're not alone.
