I was cu...Your post was really interesting to read! I was curious about this book when I saw it on the list. I am also working towards a career in therapy with hopes of becoming a child psychologist, so I agree with you when you said that being sympathetic rather than empathetic may actually help to keep our own emotions at bay. I never thought of it like that. I consider myself to be extremely empathetic and it definitely does cause me some unnecessary stress when I am interacting with others and their problems.
